Is vegan and vegetarian pretty much the same thing? Vegan is more extreme than vegetarian. A vegan consumes no meat, animals, dairy, or egg product. This includes animal byproducts as well (lard, gelatin, honey) They wont use anything that came from an animal either, such as leather, silk or fur. Any product tested on animals is a no no.
