Vegetarian Chili Recipe Using Meat Substitutes

General No Comments »

Missing the taste and texture of meat in your meals? You may not be able to use meat in your vegetarian chili recipe, but who says you can’t use a meat substitute? Believe it or not, there are many vegan alternatives to animal ingredients. And, while it’s true they don’t taste like the real thing, they come awfully close. Below are some of the safe vegan alternatives to common animal ingredients.

Meat. Try portobello mushrooms, textured vegetable protein or TVP, tempeh, tofu, beans, eggplant, or seitan. If you can’t think of a single vegetarian chili recipe that will complement any of those perfectly, take your search online. You’ll be surprised at the number of recipes you can find.

Parmesan cheese. Make your own fake Parmesan cheese by blending 1/4 tablespoon salt, 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds, and 1/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes. Blend until everything has been completely ground up, and use the same way you would the regular Parmesan cheese. Read the rest of this entry »

Vegetarian Breakfast Recipes – Start Your Day Right!

General No Comments »

Breakfast is the most important part of the day. It helps you fuel your body before you get out there and start your daily life. If you don’t eat meat, then things like bacon and breakfast sausage are obviously out of the question. Below you will find some vegetarian breakfast recipes and meals that you can eat to start your day.

One of my favorite vegetarian breakfast recipes is some simple oatmeal. When I start to get bored of plain oatmeal, I like to change things up a bit by adding in some fruit! Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, peaches, or even slices of banana go wonderfully in oatmeal. To give it an extra kick of flavor, sprinkle some cinnamon on top and you will have a delicious breakfast that will keep you going until lunch.

Another of my favorite recipes is a tortilla wrap. You can do anything with this type of breakfast. I like to take my tortilla, and fill it up with things like scrambled eggs, cheese, green onions, celery, tomatoes, and anything else I can think of for that day. It’s a lot of fun and really easy to do before you head out to work in the morning. Read the rest of this entry »

Vegetarian Lifestyle – Control Your Obesity!

General No Comments »

Obesity has become a serious problem throughout the western world. As it continues to rise at an alarming rate, extreme pressure is placed our health systems and medical facilities.  Obesity, is now affecting younger and younger parts of the population. For the first time in history we could see a whole generation of children develop diseases at an earlier rate when they become adults.

There seems to be two main reasons why this obesity crisis is happening.

(1) To-day people are becoming less active, preferring to watch sport on television rather than participating in it.

(2) The other major reasons is the availability of fast foods containing high levels of saturated fats, salt, sugar and cholesterol.
